Bonus Content: Trust and Safety for a Search Engine
Description

When Brave, a privacy-based browser, was developing their new search engine in 2021, they had several considerations: improving search results; maximizing safety for their users; protecting user privacy and freedom of speech; adapting search results and policies to the cultures of new countries; and doing all this without impacting search responsiveness.

Together with L1ght, the Trust & Safety AI company out of Tel Aviv and San Francisco, they developed a unique new approach to fighting search toxicity which addresses all of these challenges by combining human expertise in bad actor behavior with a toxicity-detecting AI to stop toxic content without compromising freedom.

How did they achieve this?  Come see Javier Paredes López from Brave, and Caroline Fernandes and Yaakov Schwartzman from L1ght present their trust and safety approach tailored to search engines.

Speakers: Yaakov Schwartzman, Caroline Fernandes, Javier Paredes Lopez

Yaakov is the Head of Innovation at L1ght where he designs and develops new Data Science solutions for the Trust and Safety community.   Yaakov has over 25 years of experience in AI, Data Science, and Data Engineering.  He is a graduate of the University of Manitoba.
